Cocoa Soup (Kakósúpa)
This rather unusual sweet soup is a traditional everyday dessert. A refined version was sometimes made for Sunday dinner, using chocolate instead of cocoa powder and served with whipped cream.
3 tbsp cocoa powder
3 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon
500 ml water
700 ml milk
1 tbsp potato starch/cornstarch
Salt
Mix cocoa powder, sugar, and cinnamon in a saucepan, add the water while stirring and boil for 5 minutes. Add the milk, heat again to boiling point and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Mix potato starch or cornstarch with a little cold water, stir into the soup and remove from the heat. Salt to taste. Serve with crushed rusks.
