The economic way
The cheapest thing to do is of course do nothing, but where's the fun in that. However, you don't need wad of cash to enjoy yourself. You just have to know where to look.

It's always fun when you are in a foreign country to see the sights, walk downtown, discover the wonders of the heart of the city, meet interesting people and browse through the shops, without buying of course, unless you can't resist the Icelandic charm. Skólavörðustígur down-town is full of art galleries, which doesn't cost a thing to see. If you buy the Reykjavik Tourist Card you get free admission to the swimming pools, the buses, many museums etc. Definitely a good investment for 1, 2 or 3 days.

Some interesting places to see are among others: The Hallgrímskirkja church, City hall, Húsdýragarðurinn (animal farm), Perlan, Kringlan shopping mall and more.

Cheap places to eat: Sjanghæ, Subway or buy something from the various grocery shops & supermarkets around.

Cheap entertainment (approx. prices in brackets): Go to the cinema (1100), the thermal swimming pools (360), try Laser-Tag, go bowling, check out the café's (300 coffee) or lose yourself in the Icelandic nightlife (many places have no admission fee, many also have live music). Total cost for a nice day approx 2500-4000.

The middle way
In the morning go horseback riding (2500-3000), then to the swimming pools* (360), afterwards a lunch (1000 - drink tab water with it). Then take a Reykjavik sightseeing (3000). Visit a few museums (we recommend the Tourist Card*), and finish with a nice dinner in the evening (1500-3000). If it is a weekend then go to a bar and nightclub (1000-3000).

This is therefore a day of variety and action, with total cost of approx. 9000- 12,000. You don't have to do all this and get the cost down to approx (7000).

The expensive way
You might want to take a jeep tour to a glacier, the highlands etc. (11,000), dinner in the evening with wine etc. (6,000), then perhaps a bar or nightclub (1000-3000). Total cost for this day is therefore 17,000-19,000.
