Yesterday, 15th of may, Reykjavik Arts Festival was opened in Hafnarhúsið, Reykjavíks Art Museum. Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir the minister of culture and education started the festival as the famous Icelandic artist Ólafur Elíasson opened up a new exhibitions in cooperation with Hans Ulrich Obrist called experimental marathon.
Reykjavík Arts Festival has been in continous growth since it first started 1970 then held biannually until 2004 when it was decided to start having it annually. For three weeks artist and artist lovers from all over the world will fill the city with various exhibitions and shows. Nearly 200 artists will perform in this years festival including visual arts, music and and performances.
