May 23, last Friday, the deadline to declare a presidential candidates by submiting signatures of recommendations, ran out at midnight. No candidates came forth with the recommendations and so presedent Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson will continue to serve the people for his fourth running term. Presdent ÓIafur Rangar has been very popular among the nation and going against him in a presidential race would have been a difficult task indeed. In the last elections presedent Ólafur Ragnar won with minimal efforts against his opponents and likely that made it obvious for other likely candidates that running against him would most likely not end in decired results. This was also the second time Presedent Ólafur Ragnar ran un-opposed yet another idendifacation of his popularity among Icelandic people.
