Salurinn, Kópavogur Concert Hall was the first specially designed concert hall in Iceland. A great variety of concerts are held at Salurinn featuring music from the renaissance period to modern days, including solo concerts, singing recitals, jazz-, chamber- and electronic music. The concert hall has been highly praised for its exceptional acoustics and high quality concerts and celebrated Icelandic performers as well as visiting international musicians can be heard at Salurinn. Modern design and the use of Icelandic building materials make Kopavogur Concert Hall a place worth visiting. On the outside, driftwood from the most isolated parts of Iceland and prefabricated concrete tiles are first to catch the eye. Once inside, the light color of spruce from Iceland's first commercial tree-farm is most striking. Stones from the building's foundations were crushed to make the floor in the lobby and hallways. |
